We can say definitely that the premises are not too bad … and it also says Ernesto Marinelli - new Team Manager - that after the tests, said: “The 1198 has continued to be a reference and the results prove it had five Ducatis in the top six. We expect a difficult race weekend anyway but will leave with a good starting point! ”

And who knows what will be in Nori’s head while, after recording good results too, is relaxing with his new track engineer kindly nicknamed “The Iron”.

Ultimi test in Australia per i team Ducati, ufficiali e privati impegnati nel Campionato Superbike, prima che il semaforo diventi verde!

A meno di una settimana dall’inizio del Campionato Mondiale proprio a Phillip Island, cinque delle sei moto più veloci sono “targate” Borgo Panigale…e se il buongiorno si vede dal mattino…possiamo proprio dire che è un ottimo giorno!

Alla fine dei due giorni un secondo e un primo posto per Michel, che ha abbattuto il muro dell’1e32. Letteralmente un tempone per il romano pilota ufficiale del Team Ducati Xerox.
Possiamo dire decisamente che le premesse non sono per niente male… e lo afferma anche Ernesto Marinelli – nuovo Team Manager - che dopo i test ha dichiarato: “Le 1198 si sono confermate un riferimento e i risultati lo dimostrano avendo cinque Ducati nelle prime sei posizioni. Ci attende un weekend di gara comunque difficile ma partiremo con una buona base di partenza!”

E chissà cosa avrà in testa Nori mentre dopo aver registrato anche lui dei i buoni risultati, si rilassa con il suo nuovo ingegnere di pista soprannominato amichevolmente “Il Ferro”.

chi vi aspettate come concorrente più temibile tra i nuovi esordienti? Sarà ancora una lotta per i soliti tre (Pedrosa sinceramente non lo considero a livello di Rossi e Stoner, mentre Lorenzo deve..o dovrebbe…confermarsi) o ci sarà qualche nuova sorpresa?

Caro Marco, noi pensiamo che Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo e anche Pedrosa possano tutti puntare a vincere gare nel 2010. La sorpresa dell’anno secondo me sarà Spies, anche se difficilmente sarà al livello dei quattro citati sopra.

Appena sentite le le dichiarazioni (contrastanti e forse premature) realtive al 2011 rilasciate proprio al Wrooom da Guareschi che si impegnerà a tenere Stoner in Ducati dopo il 2010 e di Del Torchio che auspica di portare Rossi in Ducati nel 2011 e dato che Rossi se lascerà Yamaha lo farà perchè scontento di avere un teammate di alto livello…Qual’è la sua opinione sulla gestione del mercato piloti quando scadranno i contratti dei top rider? Fra Stoner e Rossi, dovendosi sbilanciare, chi preferirebbe avere nel 2011??

Caro Antonino, è la domanda più in voga del momento. Casey è una bellissima realtà … ha un enorme talento e adesso sta anche bene fisicamente. Credo che la nostra prima scelta debba essere lui, anche se non è detto che dopo quattro anni passati insieme ci saranno tutti gli stimoli per continuare. Sarà un anno molto interessante perchè tutti e quattro i piloti più veloci avranno il contratto in scadenza.

Volevo domandare se il telaio in carbonio che avete utilizzato l’anno scorso é fondamentalmente uguale a quello di quest’anno.
E in aggiunta, visto che si possono realizzare diverse rigidezze torsionali e flessionali semplicemente cambiando alcuni parametri delle pelli di carbonio, mi chiedevo se questo significa che ipoteticamente prima di un Gran Premio voi potete scegliere il telaio più adatto a quel tracciato cambiano la rigidezza di esso. E possibile? Oppure questa caratteristica serve a poter aver “compositi” diversi di carbonio (con rigidezza diversa) nello stesso telaio?

Caro Domenico, il telaio è fondamentalmente lo stesso. E’ vero, cambiando numero e tipo di pelli si possono ottenere telai di rigidezza diversi ma non è usuale fare questi cambiamenti da un gp ad un altro.

Con la limitazione dei motori da usare la Ducati ha scelto qualche strategia? Cioè si abbasserà la potenza per andare a vantaggio della durata oppure sono stati studiati motori più affidabili?

Caro Gianmaria, il lavoro fatto da Filippo Preziosi e dal suo team lo scorso anno è stato quello di progettare un nuovo motore che potesse avere una vita utile di 1600 km mantenendo le prestazioni invariate.

who do you expect to be the most feared competition this season? Will it once again be a fight between the usual three (I don’t consider Pedrosa to be at the same level as Rossi or Stoner, while Lorenzo should be) or do you think there’ll be any surprises?

Dear Marco, we believe that Stoner, Rossi, Lorenzo and also Pedrosa will all be able to win races in 2010. The surprise of the year I think will be Spies, although it would be difficult for him to be immediately racing at the level of the aforementioned four.

Dear Antonino, this is the most in vogue topic of the moment…. Casey is an amazing reality…. He has enormous talent and is now physically fit too. I think our first choice has to be him, even though we cannot yet know whether, after four years together, there will be all the right motivations to continue. It will be a very interesting year because all four of the fastest riders have contracts that will expire.

I wanted to ask if the carbon frame that you used last year is basically the same as that of 2010?
And also, seeing as it’s possible to create different rigidities of torsion and flex by simply changing the parameters of the carbon fibres, I wondered whether this means that, hypothetically, before a race, you can choose the best frame for that particular track, by changing its rigidity. Is it possible? Or does this characteristic just allow you to have various carbon composites (with different rigidity) in the same frame?

Hello Domenico, the frame is fundamentally the same. It’s true, by changing the number and type of the fibres it is possible to create frames of differing rigidity but we do not usually make these changes from one race to another.

With regard to engine limitations, has Ducati got a particular strategy? For example has the power been reduced in order for engine’s to last longer or have you come up with more reliable engines?

due giorni fa sono venuto in Ducati per un po’ di allineamento e per vedere la mia nuova “arma” per il 2010. Ci sono stati un po’ di cambiamenti in Ducati nell’ultimo periodo, ma una cosa che davvero qui non cambia mai è la passione.

Abbiamo anche fatto un piccolo rinfresco per il Natale con tutti i ragazzi di Ducati Corse. Tutti erano, guarda caso, vestiti di rosso, ma non ho visto Babbo Natale da nessuna parte!

Beh, posso però dire che per me Babbo Natale è arrivato prima quest’anno, perchè quando ho visto la mia nuova moto è stato davvero come se stessi scartando un regalo. Sembra però che debba aspettare fino a Febbraio prima di metter le mani sul mio giocattolino e giocarci come si deve…

La visita è purtroppo durata poco visto che sono dovuto scappare per fare un salto in galleria del vento per testare qualche velocità di punta e poi in India per l’inaugurazione di un nuovo Ducati Store, ma sono contento, perchè dopo andrò a passare il Natale con la mia famiglia.
